A consortium formed by Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking and other rail and commercial vehicle systems, and John von Neumann University in Kecskemét, Hungary, has successfully completed a joint 27-month research project. The focus of the project was on alternative raw materials – particularly polymer and rubber materials – and technologies for use in the commercial vehicle industry. The research findings will feed into Knorr-Bremse's research and development strategy and activities in the long term.
Siemens Mobility has just sold its 1,000th Vectron locomotive. The anniversary locomotive was ordered by Danish State Railways (DSB). The first Vectron was delivered in 2012, and all locomotives have been built at the Siemens Mobility factory in Munich-Allach. The order from DSB is for eight AC Vectrons. To date, a total of 1,003 Vectrons have been sold to 49 customers in 16 countries.
Another win for Stadler in Poland: MPK Kraków, the city of Cracow’s public transport provider, has ordered additional low-floor trams from Stadler. For that purpose, a framework agreement for the delivery of up to 60 new trams has been signed. Combined with the previous order from January 2018, Stadler will now deliver a total of up to 110 vehicles to Cracow.
For the fourth year running, Colas Rail teams from the Tracks and Siding Agency, North East, and in particular those working on sidings, are working on a project to replace 42,000 sleepers for the Grand Port Maritime du Havre (GPMH).
Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking and other systems for rail and commercial vehicles, has signed a contract with Siemens Mobility to supply equipment for 13 high-speed trains for Russian Railways (RŽD). Based on the German rail vehicle manufacturer’s Velaro platform, the trains will operate in Russia under the Sapsan (Peregrine Falcon) brand. This is the third such contract that Knorr-Bremse has signed with Siemens Mobility to equip the Velaro model in Russia, helping to deliver fast, reliable and highly-efficient mobility.
