Track-laying of Vientiane-Luang Prabang Section of China-Laos Railway Completed
On December 29, 2020, the CYP track laying machines of CREC arrived at the Luang Prabang Railway Station in Laos, marking the completion of the track laying between Vientiane and Luang Prabang on the China-Laos Railway and laying a solid foundation for completing the whole line by May 2021 and opening the railway to traffic in December.
The track-laying of the railway started on March 27, 2020. So far, 240 kilometers of rails on the main line from Vientiane to Luang Prabang have been in place, which means that 57 percent of the whole railway section in Laos has been finished.
The China-Laos Railway starts from Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province, in the north, and ends in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, in the south. The whole line is divided into the China section and the Laos section, and the total length of the Laos section is 422.4 kilometers.
