The Danish operator DSB announced the decision to increase by more than 10% the capacity of the eight Talgo Intercity trains ordered to the manufacturer in February 2020.
Alstom has signed a contract with FERROVIENORD[1] for the supply of 20 regional trains intended for the regional railway service of the Region of Lombardy for a total value of €125 million. This is the second contract within a framework agreement signed in November 2019 with FNM S.p.A.[2]. The trains will be delivered from June 2023 onwards.
AB Transitio has awarded CAF a contract to supply regional trains under the terms of the framework agreement signed in 2014 by the Swedish public company relative to regional train purchases. The base contract comprises the production of 20 EMUs (electric units), 4 cars each, and 8 BMUs (biodiesel-electric bimodal units) consisting of 3 cars plus a power car. The contract provides for additional options that could increase the number of units by an additional 19 EMUs and 7 BMUs. The base contract amounts to more than €250 million, a figure that would almost double should all the additional vehicle options included in the contract be executed. The first units are scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2023.
TX Logistik AG is expanding its intermodal connection between Germany and Romania. The rail logistics company, which is part of the Mercitalia Group, is increasing the number of round trips on the Cologne – Curtici connection from five to seven per week as of May 10. The reason for this is the increased demand for rail transport capacity on this route at both economic centers.
The Mörkö freight train, which is part of VR Transpoint’s transit traffic, is the equivalent of almost one hundred trucks. Increasing train sizes enhances freight train traffic, reduces emissions and improves the competitiveness of Finland’s transit traffic.
The national carrier Czech Railways (České dráhy – ČD) continues to modernize its fleet serving long-distance domestic and international lines. The consortium of Siemens Mobility and Škoda Transportation has won the tender for 20 Viaggio Comfort nine-car non-traction units including control cars, designed for a maximum operating speed of 230 km/h. The cars will be delivered from 2024 to 2026 and the order is valued at around half a billion EUR.
Walloon transport operator OTW launched the building of Liège tram in 2019. The electricians from our Belgian subsidiary Eiffage Collignon are operating in consortium on this project, with Eiffage Benelux subsidiary and construction specialists Duchène.
