The European Parliament has approved a report on funding the Connecting Europe Facility during the next EU budget period. This facility is an important means by which the EU supports infrastructure projects that go beyond national borders.
Private, French-owned (Transdev) rail operator Bayerische Oberlandbahn GmbH (BOB) and Alstom have signed a contract for 25 Coradia Lint trains. This contract follows the signing of a Letter of Intent in September 2018.
British Steel has won two multi-million-pound contracts to supply 86,000 tonnes of rail to Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), the manager of Italy’s railway infrastructure.
French rolling stock manufacturer Alstom has won a contract with Israel Railways (ISR). The company is to design and fit its ETCS Level 2 on-board system on to ISR’s trains. Alstom will also test and commission the system.
The Danish city of Odense is getting a second light rail line. The first phase is due to open in 2020. Odense Letbane has now selected French-Canadian public transport operator Keolis, which is majority-owned by SNCF, as the preferred bidder to operate the light rail line.
