Stadler takes on digitalisation specialist and expands its own engineering portfolio

With its complete takeover of VIPCO GmbH in Mannheim, Stadler expands its portfolio with a new engineering subsidiary in Germany with around 50 employees. The new Stadler Mannheim GmbH will mainly focus on the development of software and hardware components for train control systems and the retrofitting field.

First homologation for GUARDIA European Train Control System (ETCS)

GUARDIA, the ETCS automatic train protection system from Stadler’s joint-venture AngelStar, has been homologated for the first time. The FLIRT trains of Koleje Mazowieckie (KM) which are equipped with GUARDIA will be operated in the Polish region Mazovia.

AB Transitio orders twelve more double-decker trains for Mälab

AB Transitio has ordered twelve more double-decker trains from Stadler. The order is worth 133.3 million Swiss francs. Transitio is thereby exercising an option from a contract that has been in place since 2016. The newly ordered trains will be delivered in autumn 2021 in accordance with the contract. They will then run in the Lake Mälaren region, west of the Swedish capital Stockholm.

Stadler delivers further trams to Cracow

Another win for Stadler in Poland: MPK Kraków, the city of Cracow’s public transport provider, has ordered additional low-floor trams from Stadler. For that purpose, a framework agreement for the delivery of up to 60 new trams has been signed. Combined with the previous order from January 2018, Stadler will now deliver a total of up to 110 vehicles to Cracow.

Success in Berlin: Stadler wins tender for the delivery of up to 1,500 new underground cars for the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe

Stadler has emerged as the winner of a tender issued by the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe for the delivery of up to 1,500 cars for use on the underground network in the German capital. The framework agreement, whose total volume represents up to three billion euros, also covers the supply of spare parts for a period of 32 years. One of the unsuccessful bidders had initiated a review procedure, but the request has now been rejected by the Berlin Court of Appeal in the last instance of appeal.This clears the way for the contract to be formally awarded and the binding order to be placed
