Designed by China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group and constructed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, the Jinshajiang Bridge of the Lijiang-Shangri-La Railway closed successfully on October 13, marking the completion of the world’s first long-span railway suspension bridge.
An Alstom-led Consortium, together with its partner Hyundai Engineering & Construction, have signed a Letter of Intent with the Iraqi Ministry of Transport to define a framework for all the appropriate steps to accelerate the implementation of the Baghdad Elevated Train (BET). The Letter of Intent was signed during the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kadhimi’s official visit to Paris. The signing ceremony was held in Matignon, the office of the French Prime Minister, in the presence of Jean Castex, the French Prime Minister and Mustafa Al Kadhimi, the Iraqi Prime Minister.
The tunneling of Anding Tunnel on the Yuxi-Mohan section of the China-Laos Railway reached the DK134+311 point, marking that the entrance section of Anding Tunnel was completed. The China Railway No.5 Engineering Group undertook the construction.

Salcef S.p.A. will carry out renewal works on Egypt’s main freight corridor, the railway line linking the port of Alexandria to the capital, on behalf of Roward Modern Engineering, an Elsewedy Group company. Transfesa Logistics and Euro Pool System start a collaboration on CoolRail routes to extend the service throughout Europe. The fresh produce rail route expands its network to many new destinations in Europe. In this new stage, the service will operate under the name CoolRail powered by Transfesa Logistics.
HS2 has today (15th October) signed up to The Tomorrow’s Engineers Code of Practice, which is designed to make engineering careers accessible for this and the next generation of young people.
The tests carried out in March 2019 on the first turnout gantries (PWP) were successful. This summer, the Hungarian contractor HOMLOK placed an order for 2 gantries to be able to lay switches and crossings directly from tilting wagons. The gains in terms of safety and productivity will enable them to effectively implement the national track renewal program.
