KIEL, GERMANY. The automatic OnEfficiency.StopStart system from Voith contributes to more efficient rail freight transport of the future. By switching off the traction engine of a locomotive during long waiting periods, operators save fuel and thus reduce costs and emissions.

Bombardier to build 14 more TWINDEXX Vario double-deck coaches for LNVG

Global mobility provider Bombardier Transportation has received an order from Lower Saxony’s regional public transport operator Landesnahverkehrsgesellschaft Niedersachsen (LNVG) for 14 additional BOMBARDIER TWINDEXX Vario double-deck coaches. A total of 12 intermediate cars and two control cars will be delivered, increasing LNVG’s fleet to 246 TWINDEXX Vario double-deck coaches in addition to the 37 TRAXX locomotives already in service.

Vossloh won a first contract for the supply of rail fastening systems for a heavy-haul line in Mongolia. The about 270 km long line will connect the Tavan Tolgoi with Gashuun Sukhait port at the Chinese border. After its completion, about 30 million tonnes of goods, primarily raw materials for steel production, will be transported on the new rail link each year
