GATX Rail Europe continues forward with growing its intermodal freight fleet for all its customers. We recently expanded on our past collaborations with SETG — a valued customer that specializes in the logistics of European rail freight transport and agricultural products, involving wood, chemicals, vehicles, paper/pulp, and steel.
GATX Rail Europe has always strived to go the distance for its clients to further cultivate thriving partnerships. At the end of 2021, we completed the successful handover of 68 Sggrs 80‘ and Sggmrs 90‘ container railcars to RTB CARGO, our new railcar leasing customer that signed on with us for the upcoming years.
LINEAS, the largest private rail freight operator in Europe offering premium rail products and total door-to-door logistics solutions, selects GATX Rail Europe for intermodal railcars.
GATX Rail Europe has invested in additional specialized rail tank cars of type 7182 for the transport of Ethyl and Methyl Chlorides as well as other Vinyl Chloride chemicals. Newly built and assembled in our WSO workshop, we look forward to delivering the LPG cars to our chemical industry customers in mid-2022.
Our state-of-the-art, efficient and versatile 119m³ gas railcar has already proven to be a favorite among customers. Since its launch just a few years ago, GATX has leased over 500 cars of this type with more than 20 customers. Given the high demand, we will continue to assemble new 119m³ railcars at our in-house workshop in Ostróda, Poland.
More than 75% of all workshop revisions on GATX railcars are already handled digitally. This marks an important milestone in the two-year roll-out plan by GATX Rail Europe, which started in March 2020. The plan targets all 46 maintenance shops in the GATX Rail Europe partner network to be operating with the digital workshop portal by the end of 2022.
GATX Rail Europe has been a top choice for decades in the tank railcar leasing market, however, more recently, GATX has also accelerated investments in freight railcars to be-come a leader in this segment.
The introduction of the Digital Automated Coupling (DAC) will enable efficient, competitive and transparent rail freight transport in Europe. It is also a prerequisite to meet the environmental goals in the European transport sector. GATX experts are actively involved in making this initiative become reality.
