New ‘ClickFit’ Brackets Aid Tricky Cable Troughing Installation
Newly designed ‘ClickFit’ brackets were used to successfully attach our ARCOSYSTEM® elevated cable troughing to a sloping rock face during a challenging installation.
The job was to install 500 metres of the GRP-constructed ARCOSYSTEM® along an angled rock face near the town of Sigmaringen in southern Germany.
The specially designed ClickFit brackets, which allow the troughing cells to be simply clicked into place, were fixed to the rock bolts which were clamped into the rock face itself.
This meant that because the rock face was at an awkward angle of approximately 45˚, the troughing could be clicked into the brackets with ease, as opposed to the on-site operatives struggling to slide the troughs into the shoes of the brackets. This resulted in a much quicker, easier, and safer install, especially with the operatives working on slippy, sloping ground.
The project was the first large scale ClickFit installation since this method was created by our technical team at Complete Composite Systems (CCS).
As well as steep slopes, ARCOSYSTEM® can be attached to a range of trackside features such as bridges, railings, noise barriers and HEA beams. The lightweight troughing can also be fastened to posts mounted into the ground, spanning as far as six metres between support posts.
The troughing is available in a choice of cell sizes and is designed to safely contain all kinds of railway cables (power, signal, digital communication cables etc), while its pultruded composite construction ensures long-term durability in all climates.
