Variety of Brackets Helps Clamp Cable Containment System to Long Bridge
A diverse range of bracketry helped attach a lengthy run of our GRP-made ARCOSYSTEM® cable containment system to a bridge.

The project took place in the Austrian municipality of St. Georgen near Salzburg. As can be seen amongst the images below, the high railway bridge was very long and the job required detailed planning throughout.
There were a couple of short pivots along the railings of the bridge that needed to be negotiated, and with some spaces tighter than others to access, it was decided to take advantage of the multiple designs of bracketry available.
The troughs and lids of ARCOSYSTEM® are manufactured from pultruded glass fibre reinforced polymers (GRP/FRP), while the associated laser-cut steel brackets allow for a range of fitting angles during installation. In this case a choice of standard and wide bridge brackets were employed, as well as a selection of angle, T-profile, stainless steel sleeve and ClickFit bracket designs.
The composite construction of the troughing means ARCOSYSTEM® is lightweight for easy handling on site and quicker installation, in some cases spanning up to 6m between supports. As well as bridges, the troughing can be fixed to a variety of trackside features such as noise barriers, HEA beams, railings, rock faces and sloping hillsides, or it can be post-mounted or wall-hung. The pultrusion manufacturing process ensures ARCO is sturdy enough to carry cable loads of up to 90kg/m while offering all-round protection against corrosion, water, heat, freeze-thaw cycles, and a wide range of chemicals.
