Koleje Mazowieckie and Stadler sign another framework agreement for the supply of 50 FLIRT trains
The Polish regional operator Koleje Mazowieckie has ordered up to 50 state-of-the-art FLIRT electrical multiple unit trains from Stadler, which will be set to operate in Masovia.

The order is of great importance for the Region and will contribute to further improving the comfort and safety of travel on routes from Warsaw to Masovian cities and towns. The framework agreement signed today in Warsaw also covers the maintenance of the delivered fleet.
The value of the contract, maintenance included, amounts to around EUR 750 million and will be co-financed with EU funds. Together with today’s framework agreement, the first two executive contracts were also signed, marking the start of the project to build the first 25 new FLIRT trains for Masovia.
Another milestone in partnership with Koleje Mazowieckie
The cooperation between Koleje Mazowieckie and Stadler started in 2006 when Stadler was awarded its first contract for the delivery of 14 FLIRT trains (10 for Masovia and 4 for Silesia) for Poland. As a result, Stadler opened a production plant in Siedlce for their production.
The partnership with the regional carrier owned by the local government of the Masovia region marks the continuation of another framework agreement signed in 2018, under which, from 2020 to 2023, the Siedlce plant manufactured and delivered 61 FLIRT trains of the latest generation.
Under today's agreement, Koleje Mazowieckie will expand its fleet with 50 additional five-car FLIRT vehicles, set to enhance comfort and safety on railway travel throughout the region. In total, the framework contract provides for four excecutive agreements (for the purchase of 14, 11, 14 and 11 units respectively) and their maintenance for 18 years. The vehicles ordered today under the first two executive contracts are planned to be delivered within 24 months of signing.
The gross contract value of the framework agreement, including the maintenance of the fleet, amounts to around EUR 750 million. The investment will be co-financed with EU funds, within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan for Poland.

All this is intended to ensure that our residents can travel around the region quickly and comfortably. Today we are signing the contract for another large order of FLIRT vehicles. The first trains are to be delivered in two years.”
FLIRT is Stadler’s best-selling model, with more than 2600 units sold to 23 countries. The rolling stock fleet of Koleje Mazowieckie includes a total of 71 FLIRT vehicles: 10 four-car and 61 five-car units, which constitute over 21 % of all vehicles. All of them were built at the Stadler Polska plant in Siedlce.
Focus on the local production

FLIRT trains for Koleje Mazowieckie
The new FLIRT electrical multiple units for Koleje Mazowieckie are vehicles with a lightweight aluminium structure. They have ETCS Level 2 equipment and meet the requirements of TSI standards as well as crash safety standards (EN 15227).
In designing the vehicle, Stadler engineers focused on low energy consumption and easy operation of the vehicle. Single-space formations have spacious entrance areas, allowing for fast passenger exchange. Combined with a high proportion of low-floor configurations, they make the vehicle easily accessible for people on wheelchairs or with bicycles or strollers. They are fitted with efficient air-conditioning, internal and external monitoring, a visual and audio information system and wireless internet access. They have a platform to aid boarding by people with disabilities, sections to accommodate strollers and bicycles, and modern toilets. On board, defibrillators and intercoms enable passengers to contact the driver in case of an emergency. Five-car units offer a room for 600 passengers and 279 seats. The vehicles run at a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
The new trains will run on the following routes: Warsaw to Dęblin, Skierniewice, Żyrardów and Pilawa; Warsaw to Radom, Działdowo and Ciechanów; Warsaw to Mińsk Mazowiecki, Łowicz and Sochaczew; and Warsaw to Ostrołęka, Małkinia, Łochów and Tłuszcz.
