TRANSFESA LOGISTICS STARTS OPERATING UIC GAUGE TRAINS BETWEEN THE IBERIAN PENINSULA AND EUROPE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ITS HISTORY
The trains are being pulled by two of the five Euro6000 locomotives that the Group has taken delivery of. Transfesa Logistics has obtained an extension of the safety certificate that allows it to operate on the border section from Perpignan to Figueras on UIC gauge.
Transfesa Logistics will operate UIC gauge trains from 2023. It does so with two of the five Euro6000 locomotives that the Group has received.
Just a few weeks ago, one of the new UIC gauge locomotives began to pull the first Transfesa Logistics train with finished vehicles from Perpignan to the Port of Barcelona on the international gauge track, as the company announced at the end of 2022. To achieve this milestone in its history, Transfesa Logistics has also obtained an extension of the safety certificate that allows it to operate on the border section from Perpignan to Figueras on UIC gauge.
With the commissioning of these new standard gauge locomotives, Transfesa Logistics reinforces its objective of contributing to the reduction of the carbon footprint by extending rail transport in a new format from the Iberian Peninsula to the whole of Europe.
The rest of the locomotives, as the company announced in 2022, will be delivered throughout this year and next.
