Antaira Targets Rail Transportation Industry with New Gigabit Ethernet Managed Switch
EN50155 (Pending) Compliant Switch Ideal for Rolling Stock and Wayside Installations.
Positioning itself for leadership in the rail transportation industry, Antaira has launched a 16-port managed Gigabit Ethernet switch that is purpose-engineered for rolling stock and wayside installations. Acting as a network backbone, the new Antaira LMX-1600G-M12-67-110 switch series offers a reliable means to configure, manage and monitor the growing data traffic generated by networked sensors, IP cameras, accelerometers, and other networked devices on-board the train.
Train bandwidth requirements have skyrocketed in recent years due to a proliferation of electronic systems that have flooded the rail transportation industry. Equipped with 16 10/100/1000 Base-T(X) Ethernet ports, the LMX-1600G-M12-67-110 series offers an economical, highly scalable solution for addressing evolving network demands. There is also a USB and console port to enable faster field configuration and troubleshooting. Light Layer 3 protocols allow for VLAN creation and IP routing based on static routes. Applying the switch's VLAN features sends traffic only where it needs to go, at the speed it needs to go, for reduced network congestion.
Engineered for long-term reliability, the Antaira LMX-1600G-M12-67-110 series is hardened to withstand severe operating environments and temperature extremes. It meets an extensive range of approvals including IP67 to prevent ingress of water and dust into its metal housing, and EN50155 international certification (pending) for train control systems. M12 connectors ensure a tight connection where the switch is subjected to high vibration and shock in dusty, wet, or gas-laden environments. The 10G SFP ports are equipped with bypass functions for Daisy Chain Redundancy, making them completely transparent in case of a power outage to ensure non-stop data flow.
As a managed switch, the LMX-1600G-M12-67-110 series supports network segmentation and Access Control Lists (ACLs) that can limit network access to only trusted devices and authorized users, with an emphasis on preventing cyber attacks. Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS v2), Quality of Service (QoS), Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), VLAN, and other advanced features create a highly-secured network environment.
The Antaira LMX-1600G-M12-67-110 series is compact, wall-mounted, and doesn't require a cabinet. This model supports the unique power requirements found almost exclusively in rail applications but other Antaira models are available that are ideal for industrial networking applications that demand reliable, high-bandwidth data transfer in extreme conditions, such as oil & gas processing, automotive manufacturing, and machine building.
