Arc wins at 2021 Australasian Rail Industry Awards

Arc has been awarded the Freight Rail Excellence Award for delivery of the Hampton Intermodal Terminal.

Arc Infrastructure was proud to receive the Freight Rail Excellence Award at yesterday’s annual Australasian Rail Industry Awards for the Hampton Intermodal Terminal (IMT).

The Freight Excellence Award was won by Arc for delivering this critical piece of transport infrastructure to support future growth opportunities, in only 98 days.

The award was accepted by Head of Development Simon Gilders, who paid tribute to the Arc team involved in delivering the project, as well as partners Qube and Watco.

Australasian Railway Association (ARA) Chair and judging panel chair Danny Broad said projects of this nature usually require a year of design, approvals, construction and commissioning.

“Arc Infrastructure ran parallel workstreams to get the job completed in under 100 days, ensuring environmental, project and safety risks were managed properly,” Mr Broad said.

“The successful delivery of the project represents a fantastic example of agility, flexibility and teamwork, and is now supporting the employment of 30 new train drivers in the state.”

The Hampton IMT now uses 150 locomotives and wagons and is supporting new growth opportunities for the rail freight sector.

Mr Broad congratulated Arc Infrastructure for delivering a project that makes rail a more attractive option for the freight sector.

“This is the region’s first open access IMT, increasing rail freight capacity in WA and creating faster connections for the rail freight supply chain,” Mr Broad said.

ARA Chief Executive Officer Caroline Wilkie congratulated Arc on the win for the Hampton IMT submission.

“As the region’s first open access IMT, it increases rail freight capacity in WA and creates faster connections for the rail freight supply chain. Congratulations to Arc Infrastructure for delivering a project that makes rail freight a more attractive option for the freight sector,” Ms Wilkie said.

The Australasian Rail Industry Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements, innovation and successes of those working in the rail industry.
