Silver Route to Gold award for VolkerRail

VolkerRail’s Plant division has been presented with a Silver Route to Gold award by Network Rail, in recognition of its on-track plant reliability.

Network Rail’s Route to Gold scheme recognises the achievements of rail plant suppliers across the industry, and rewards their hard work and dedication to ensure that safe and reliable plant is always available to meet the needs of the industry.

The scheme tracks and reports on the performance of rail plant, awarding companies with either a Bronze, Silver or Gold award. One of the reporting initiatives – share with pain/share with pride – also sees companies share best practice and lessons learnt, in a bid to increase transparency, innovation and knowledge industry wide.

Neil Hewitt, professional head of plant engineering, said: “It is the continued effort of VolkerRail’s plant performance and operational teams, who continue to keep our fleet reliable, that has enabled us to win the Silver Route to Gold award - a great improvement on our Bronze award last year.

“With our ongoing commitment to the scheme, we remain confident in pushing the boundaries further, with a goal of achieving the Gold Award next year.”
