CAF has been awarded a new contract by SNCF Voyageurs to supply ten additional Régiolis regional trains for operation in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in southwestern France. The order is valued at approximately €80 million.
The contract continues the long-standing industrial cooperation between CAF and Alstom under the CAF–Alstom consortium framework. As with previous agreements, CAF will be responsible for the design and final assembly of the trains at its Reichshoffen plant in Alsace, while Alstom will supply a range of onboard systems and equipment.
The new trains will complement the existing fleet of 54 Régiolis units already operating across the Nouvelle-Aquitaine regional rail network. The ordered units are four-car, bimode trains capable of operating under electric power or diesel traction, providing operational flexibility on partially electrified routes. Each train offers seating capacity for 208 passengers.
Passenger comfort features include large windows, indirect LED interior lighting, armrest-equipped seating, individual reading lights and onboard power sockets, aligning the units with current regional transport comfort standards.
This order forms part of a broader expansion of the Régiolis platform in France. Since acquiring the Reichshoffen industrial site in 2021, CAF has assumed responsibility for further development and production of Régiolis train variants for SNCF. With this latest contract, the total number of Régiolis units commissioned to CAF approaches 50, supporting sustained industrial activity at its French facilities.
CAF maintains a broad mobility portfolio in France, supplying rolling stock ranging from long-distance Intercités trains to commuter rail, trams, metros and zero-emission buses. Ongoing projects include rolling stock for the Paris RER B line, Intercités services linking major French cities, and tram networks in multiple metropolitan areas.
