Pandrol Wins ERCI Award for Best Large Company
Pandrol, one of the world’s leading rail fastener and aluminothermic welding manufacturers, has won the prestigious Innovation award (large company) from ERCI (European Railway Clusters Initiative), at SIFER 2025 in Lille, France.

The company won the innovation award for its groundbreaking new i+weld aluminothermic welding solutions, which was demonstrated at the SIFER 2025 exhibition, held in Lille recently. The i+weld solution assists the welder in completing aluminothermic welds quickly, safely and effectively.
Pandrol’s innovative i+weld semi-automatic aluminothermic welding solution was developed to improve the quality of the welds and enhances productivity for the welder, as the work can be completed much more quickly. i+weld uses semi-automated processes to reduce physical strain and simplify training, making it a game-changer in modern track maintenance. The i+weld solution improves overall weld productivity by 40 per cent.
The i+align lightweight alignment system for aluminothermic welding is the last innovation of the i+weld solution. It’s an easy-to-use solution which allows a single operator to automatically align the rail in just a few minutes, resulting in enhanced precision, reduced manual effort and full digital traceability.
The patented i+align system relies on automation and data to improve the overall operational experience, increasing quality, reliability as well as safety and ergonomics.
The innovation award was presented to Nicolas Demond, Head of Pandrol’s Centre of Engineering, at a cocktail reception held at the Grand Palais Exhibition Centre in Lille.
