PLC-based FNmux from Deltron and Pilz receives Indian approval

The SIL 4 platform solution, based on the safe, modular railway control system PSSrail from the automation expert Pilz monitors interlockings, level crossings and signals. FNmux now has the necessary railway approval and is making a decisive contribution to the digitisation of the Indian railway infrastructure.

FNmux is the result of a long-term collaboration between Deltron and the automation expert Pilz. In March, FNmux was officially approved by the Indian supervisory authority "Research Design and Standards Organisation" (RDSO).

A safe package
The SIL 4-capable signalling solution FNmux combines safety and control intelligence to monitor level crossings, interlockings and signals in automatic line blocks in a particularly cost-effective manner. The multiplex method is used, i.e. several signals are transferred simultaneously via optical fibre. FNmux thus enables technology openness, which is a crucial requirement in the rapidly growing Indian infrastructure. The innovation lies in the solution's modularity: via the inputs and outputs of the railway control system PSSrail, the solution can be adapted flexibly to a variety of applications in the extensive Indian Railways network, and is easily configured. With its real-time response, redundancy and reliability, PSSrail offers additional strengths when used at Deltron.

Future-proof railway control system
With this jointly developed solution, Deltron and Pilz are laying an important foundation for the digitisation of India's railway infrastructure. FNmux can be connected to other components across a range of manufacturers and is therefore equipped for digitisation tasks.
