Rail Baltica Advances in Lithuania with Key Infrastructure Contract
HISK secures an €83.36M contract to build a 12.1 km Rail Baltica segment in Lithuania, featuring green bridges, viaducts, and ecological crossings, with completion by late 2027.

The LTG Group’s infrastructure company LTG Infra, which is responsible for implementing Rail Baltica in Lithuania, has announced the winner of a new construction tender. A new contractor has been selected to build a 12.1 km railway embankment section from Šėta to Ramygala (Part II). This work, worth €83.36 million (excluding VAT), will be carried out by the Panevėžys-based company HISK.
“This reflects how the European and national investments in Rail Baltica are already benefitting our businesses and regions. We are beginning a new important construction phase and look forward to a successful partnership with the contractor,” said LTG Infra CEO Vytis Žalimas.
HISK (formerly Panevėžio keliai) is one of the largest infrastructure construction companies in the Baltic region, founded in 1965.
“The project scope is broad and covers various infrastructure elements. Special attention is being paid to traffic safety, as the railway line will cross three important regional roads. We will build 12.1 km of new railway embankment, two green bridges, a railway bridge, and two viaducts, as well as 27 culverts and wildlife crossings. Rail Baltica is not only an ambitious infrastructure project, but also a significant responsibility toward society and nature,” said Tadas Ramanauskas, Head of Infrastructure Projects at HISK.
HISK will also carry out major repairs of state-level regional roads, reconstruct drainage systems, a gas pipeline crossing the embankment, electrical distribution networks, and install noise barriers.
Construction is expected to be completed in the last quarter of 2027. The work will be funded by the European Union and the national budget.
This year, contracts are also expected to be signed for railway embankment construction in the following sections: Kaunas–Šveicarija, Ramygala–Berčiūnai, and Berčiūnai–Joniškėlis. Construction activities will then be underway across a total length of 114 km.
