Alstom Spain has today presented its results for the 2024/2025 financial year, which ended on 31 March 2025, alongside its economic, social, and environmental impact report prepared with EY.
For the fiscal year 2024/2025, the company achieved sales of 809 million euros, consolidating its position as a leading player in the Spanish railway sector. Of these sales, 54% corresponded to international projects in countries such as Luxembourg, Mexico, Morocco, Dominican Republic, Singapore, Egypt, and Canada, among others.
New orders worth 622 million euros were secured across both domestic and international markets. These include flagship projects such as the supply of new trains and the upgrade of the APM system at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, as well as the automation of Line 6 of the Madrid Metro. The combined order backlog for Alstom’s entities in Spain and Portugal now stands at 4.26 billion euros.
Industrial growth and environmental commitment
Alstom continues to expand its industrial and technological footprint in Spain, with cumulative investments exceeding 70 million euros over the past five years. The company maintains a strong presence across all areas of rail mobility, operating four industrial sites (one in Barcelona, one in Bizkaia and two in Madrid) and four technology centres (two in Barcelona and two in Madrid).
According to EY’s impact report, Alstom’s operations in Spain supported a total of 7,316 jobs in 2025 — including 2,917 direct and 4,399 indirect or induced roles — and contributed 400 million euros to national GDP.
With a 170-year legacy in Spain, Alstom plays a vital role in the country’s industrial ecosystem. In the last year alone, the company made purchases exceeding 530 million euros from nearly 1,000 local suppliers, reaffirming its commitment to the development of the national business network.
Driving sustainable mobility
Alstom is at the forefront of the transition to low-carbon transport. According to the European Environment Agency, rail is the cleanest and most energy-efficient mode of transport for medium and long distances. In Spain, one in every three trains in operation has been manufactured by Alstom, and over half of the trains in service are equipped with signalling systems developed by the company in Spain.
Beyond delivering sustainable solutions for operators and passengers, Alstom is actively working to decarbonise its own operations, with a target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The company also fosters inclusive and sustainable working environments, reinforcing its reputation as an employer of choice in the sector.
In recognition of its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, Alstom Spain was awarded the “Exemplary” level of ISO 26000 certification by international body AFNOR in January 2025.
