In the state of Andra Pradesh, two new metros are in the pipeline. Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, two fast-growing cities, will soon benefit from a fast, reliable, safe and efficient mobility offer to ensure a modal shift towards public transport. The Visakhapatnam metro is expected to have 3 lines and be 46km long, while the Vijayawada metro will be 38km long, served by 2 lines.
"I am delighted to be leading the team for the preparation of mobility plans for these two cities in Andhra Pradesh. It is a great honour to work again with the client Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation and foster our relationships with the state in reducing congestion and improving urban mobility."
Ankush Malhotra, Head of Department, Consulting and Advisory Services, SYSTRA India
SYSTRA India has been awarded the contract to update the Comprehensive Mobility Plans (CMPs) for these two cities. The previous ones were drawn up in 2019, and it was on the basis of these documents that SYSTRA India built its Detailed Project Report.
The public promoter, Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (APMRCL), needs these documents to obtain approval and funding for the two metros from the Indian government.
