With around 35,000 employees and 11,569 trains operating every day on the rail network, SBB is Switzerland's largest railway company and is recognised worldwide as a role model in quality and punctuality. To ensure that this continues to be the case in the future as operational dynamics increase, SBB has opted for IVU.rail, the world's leading IT solution for managing the two key resources: vehicles and personnel. The system uses intelligent optimisation algorithms that significantly improve efficiency and precision in planning and management. The software will be used in the Railway Production unit in the Passenger Services Production division. With IVU.rail, SBB is also optimally prepared for the TAP/TSI changeover and TMS connection. An important milestone was recently reached with the punctual completion of the concept phase.
"IVU.rail will allow us to replace various legacy systems and, in doing so, organise our processes more efficiently in a single system. This will save resources and give us much more flexibility in terms of planning and operations than before," says Reto Liechti, head of Railway Production in the Passenger Services Production division at SBB. "Now that the joint concept phase has been successfully completed, we are embarking on the next level, which means implementation."
"We are delighted to be able to actively support SBB in the further digitalisation of its processes and to have reached the first milestone in our collaboration," says Oliver Grzegorski, Head of Rail Business at IVU Traffic Technologies. "This is a successful start to our long-term partnership and once again demonstrates the advantages of our integrated software, which is excellent at mapping highly complex requirements."
