The T2 line, which ensures around 800 daily trips, now includes six new stops. It transported 11.5 million passengers in 2024 and is expected to attract over 3.4 million additional passengers with this extension.

For GEST CEO Denis Ratto, “This is yet another step in the development of mobility in Florence. The tram network is growing, and with the opening of this new extension, the tram service will reach the historic city center from the airport in just 35 minutes. To ensure the success of this project, we initiated the fourth edition of the Accademia program, trained and hired 14 new drivers, and hired 3 maintenance workers and 2 controllers.”

RATP Dev’s Tuscan subsidiary plays a vital role in reducing congestion and pollution with its eco-friendly, electric tramways, in complementarity with Florence’s bus network operated by Autolinee Toscane, another subsidiary of RATP Dev operating the entire regional public transport network of the region, which has recently equipped its fleet with new electric buses.

GEST operates the tramway network in Florence, including tramway lines T1 and T2, which connect key areas of the city among which the Florence airport. It offers its passengers accessible, reliable, efficient and sustainable urban mobility solutions that meet the needs of all. By transporting millions of travelers annually, GEST contributes to the city's transition to more sustainable and connected urban mobility.

GEST will also operate the T3 tramway line connecting “Libertà” to “Bagno a Ripoli”, whose construction works began on January 25.
