RATP Dev and ComfortDelGro Transit have formed a consortium to bid for the Copenhagen Metro operations and maintenance contract tender expected to be issued later this year by Public Transport Authority Metroselskabet.
This consortium brings together two global leaders with decades of experience in high-capacity urban rail to offer world-class metro services to the residents and visitors of vibrant Copenhagen. The Metro already plays a vital role in the city’s mobility and sustainability ambition, and is expected to undergo significant upgrades and expansions over the course of the new contract, while further increasing ridership and minimizing its climate footprint.
It marks the third time that RATP Dev and ComfortDelGro will combine their global expertise and local knowledge to deliver complex rail projects, efficient asset management, and exceptional service. The two companies have a proven history of successful collaboration on major projects in Greater Paris and Singapore: as part of the ORA consortium with Alstom, to manage the Greater Paris Metro’s automated Line 15 South; and through Singapore One Rail partnership to operate and maintain the new Jurong Region Line in the city-state.
Two Global Leaders – One Shared Mission
RATP Dev and its parent company RATP Group brings a proven track record in managing high-capacity urban transit systems, complex projects, and automated metro networks in cities such as Paris, Sydney, Doha and Riyadh. Recent technical feats include the simultaneous extension and re-automation of ultra-dense Line 14 in Paris, without major service disruption, ahead of the 2024 Olympics, as well as the successful opening of Lines 1 and 2 in Riyadh, today the world’s largest automated metro network in operation.
In Singapore, through its subsidiary SBS Transit, ComfortDelGro has operated Singapore’s Northeast Line, the world’s first fully automated heavy-rail metro system and the first metro line in Singapore to achieve the global benchmark of over 1 million ‘mean kilometres between failures’ (MKBF) for over 20 years. It also operates Singapore’s Downtown Line which is rated one of the most reliable metros globally since 2021 (8.149 million train MKBF in 2024). It also recently won the contract to operate the Tunnelbanan, Stockholm’s iconic metro in a joint venture and has operated the Auckland Rail franchise since 2022. In total, ComfortDelGro has over 343km of track in operation or under mobilization across Singapore, New Zealand, France and Sweden.
