Rail Baltica partners with Intelligent Rail Summit 2024

Rail Baltica is participating as a strategic partner in this year’s Intelligent Rail Summit 2024 in Tallinn, Estonia, organized by ProMedia Group, a Dutch publisher of leading industry platforms like RailTech.com. The event, which will explore the latest in rail technology and innovation, will feature key contributions from Rail Baltica executives, including Emilien Dang, Chief Technical Officer at the project’s central coordinator RB Rail, and Anvar Salomets, CEO of Rail Baltic Estonia, the national implementing body in Estonia.

According to Emilien Dang, Chief Technical Officer and Member of the Management Board, for the Baltic region, Rail Baltica will not only enhance connectivity with European standard railway lines but also bring advanced expertise in modern, sustainable high-speed rail construction, implementation, and operations. “This knowledge transfer will play a very important role in the future development of railway technologies across the region. As we continue to advance this ambitious infrastructure project in the Baltics, staying updated on the latest technological innovations is critical to achieving greater efficiency, safety, and sustainability. The summit in Tallinn serves as the perfect forum for industry specialists to collaborate, share insights, and explore intelligent technologies,” he said.

Emilien Dang will deliver a keynote speech on "Transforming Europe’s rail network with smart technologies, showcasing how Rail Baltica is leveraging advanced technologies to enhance connectivity, drive sustainability, and set new benchmarks for environmentally friendly rail solutions across the region.

Whereas Anvar Salomets, the CEO of Rail Baltic Estonia, will address the challenges and strategies involved in connecting the Baltic States with the wider European railway system. “As we move forward with connecting the Baltic States to the wider European rail network, the development of key infrastructure like the Ülemiste terminal is critical. This site will become a vital transport hub, pioneering advanced mobility solutions designed by Zaha Hadid Architects that seamlessly integrate international and local travel. At the Intelligent Rail Summit, we are excited to share our vision of how Rail Baltica will not only serve Estonia but also pioneer new standards for rail connectivity and sustainability across Europe,” said Salomets.

The summit, which takes place in the capital city of Estonia, one of Rail Baltica’s founding nations, will delve into a range of pressing topics for the rail industry, including train monitoring systems, asset management technologies, predictive maintenance, and the integration of AI and cybersecurity.

The Intelligent Rail Summit 2024 will feature a site visit to the Ülemiste International Passenger Terminal, part of the Rail Baltica project. Set to become a key transport hub for Estonia, the terminal will link the country to the rest of Europe through the Rail Baltica high-speed railway network. Its strategic location near the Tallinn airport enhances its functionality as a key node for both international travellers and local commuters. The terminal is designed to facilitate seamless integration of rail, bus, and air travel, complemented by pedestrian and bicycle access to encourage eco-friendly transportation options. The terminal will not only serve as a transport hub but also as a public space that contributes to the urban development of the surrounding area. First phase of construction works started in 2023.
