GATX Rail Europe Delivers New Railcars to RTB Cargo for Rotterdam-Nuremberg Route Expansion

The Sggnss railcars, equipped with the latest pin configuration for swap bodies, were delivered straight from production to meet RTB Cargo’s increasing demand for container transport on the Rotterdam-Nuremberg route. Hutchison Ports Europe Intermodal (HPEI) has been operating on the Nuremberg route since 2018, and HPEI and RTB have been producing rail products together for over 10 years. Additionally, GATX has already provided wagon sets for joint operations.

Despite the remote handover of the brand-new Sggnss railcars in Aschaffenburg, the significance of the event remained just as impactful. “This delivery strengthens our collaboration with RTB Cargo and demonstrates our commitment to providing tailored freight railcar leasing solutions for their growing needs,” said Sebastian Engels, GATX Sales Manager.

The new railcars will play a key role in the expansion of RTB Cargo’s transport services. Currently operating four round trips per week between Rotterdam and Nuremberg, the service is planned to increase to five round trips by the end of the year. If container volumes remain consistent, this increased frequency could continue into the future.
