PT KAI SIGNS CONTRACT WITH PROGRESS RAIL FOR MAINTENANCE SERVICES AGREEMENT ON 35 EMD^® GT38AC LOCOMOTIVES

Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, has entered into a contract with PT Kereta Indonesia (PT KAI) for a Maintenance Services Agreement (MSA) on 35 EMD^® GT38AC locomotives, which were delivered in 2022 for transportation in South Sumatra, Indonesia.

The six-year contract includes a major overhaul on the 35 units and covers all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance parts, plus 24/7 technical support in multiple locations.

"This large repeat services contract is a testament to the successful collaboration between Progress Rail and PT KAI," commented John Newman, president and CEO of Progress Rail. This is the third MSA Progress Rail has signed with PT KAI for the CC205 class. The first contract was signed for 50 GT38ACs in September 2013, and later extended to cover 55 locomotives. Another six-year MSA was signed in 2020 for the 55 units, including bogie overhauls and a major 12-year overhaul of the locomotives.
