Alstom's Innovation Station in Stockholm begins collaboration for technology development with Tåg i Bergslagen
Innovation station reaches important milestone through ground-breaking partnership in rail technology.
Alstom, global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, has signed a cooperation agreement with Tåg i Bergslagen through its Innovation Station in Stockholm. The agreement marks the beginning of a unique two-year collaboration that will explore and develop new technologies to change the rail industry. The initiative is groundbreaking in Europe, as it is the first time a European company has collaborated with Alstom's innovation station. It marks Alstom's commitment to innovation and its leading position in sustainable mobility.

Focus areas for the collaboration
As part of the agreement, Alstom's Innovation Station and TiB have started a collaboration to develop solutions in the following areas:
- Animal detection and deterrence: To improve safety around the tracks and reduce traffic disruption from animals on the railway tracks.
- Data collection, data analysis and artificial intelligence: To optimize operations and improve maintenance efficiency.
- Explore and develop new technologies for passenger information systems: Improve communication with passengers and the passenger experience.
- Additive manufacturing and 3D printing: To support maintenance work and repairs.
Alstoms Innovation Station i Stockholm
In order to continuously provide customers with the latest technical advances in railways, Alstom established an Innovation Station in Stockholm in 2023. This station, the first of its kind in Europe for the group, focuses on collaboration with key local stakeholders such as customers, research institutions, universities and startups. The station also aims to bring internal innovation projects to the market, both locally and internationally.
Alstom is the largest player in the Swedish railway market, with over 1,000 delivered trains. Alstom also leads the rollout of ERTMS in Sweden and has 19 depots for train service and maintenance throughout the country
