Belgian Minister of Mobility launches first edition of exhibition RailTech Belgium
RailTech Belgium: new international rail event opens its doors.
Belgium is not only an important crossroad for railway traffic in Europe but a lot of new rail infrastructure developments are currently ongoing in the country. The Belgian government has recently launched an ambitious campaign for infrastructure renewal and system integration. This makes the country the ideal location for a brand new event for all European stakeholders in the railway industry: RailTech Belgium.
The first edition of RailTech Belgium, organised by publishing house ProMedia, will bring together the Belgian and international railway industries in Brussels on 6-7 June. Get to know the businesses and the growth opportunities that Belgium has to offer during the event, which consists of a pop-up exhibition, networking evening and two separate conferences.
The event kicks off with a networking evening on 6 June, for exhibitors, partners, visitors and conference delegates. The next day, the pop-up exhibition opens its doors for all stakeholders in the European railway industry. The exhibition floor features more than 20 exhibitors showcasing their products, services and innovations. At the exhibition floor there are also free knowledge sessions.
All eyes on Rail Vision 2040
For visitors who want to go more in-depth into the Belgian strategy for rail, there is a full-day conference programme, comprising a morning session and an afternoon session. During the morning session, it will be all about the Belgium strategy to remain a frontrunner in several Railtech areas, such as signalling, electrification and the rollout of ERTMS. These and other hot topics will be discussed by several keynote speakers from - among others - Infrabel, SNCB, Alstom, the Association of European Rail Rolling Stock Lessors, ERTMS Users Group. The conference kicks off with a speech by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mobility in Belgium, George Gilkinet, about the Rail Vision 2040.
Direct employment
The afternoon conference centers on the rail infrastructure in and from the Belgian ports. The various Belgian ports serve as cornerstones of the country’s economy. They make a major contribution to GDP and are an important source of direct employment. Many projects and studies are ongoing in improving the infrastructure and capacity of these ports. Among the speakers are representatives from Railport Antwerpen NV, the Department of Transport and Regional Economics from the University of Antwerp and Infrabel.
Key developments
“RailTech Belgium is where the key developments in the international rail industry take place. In current economic times, in which it is very important to learn from one another and raise the efficiency of the rail infrastructure”, says Nick Augusteijn, editor-in-chief at Railtech.com [1] and one of the program managers of the event. “We will hopefully see many stakeholders next week to learn from the speakers, gettinginspiration from the exhibition and above all finding new solutions and connections. That’s what RailTech Belgium is all about.”
