SUCCESS FOR SYSTRA IN ITALY FOR ERTMS SIGNALLING ON THE NAPLES NETWORK
SYSTRA SWS and SYSTRA Sotecni have been awarded a contract, as part of a consortium commissioned by Alstom, to renew the signalling systems on the lines of Ente Autonomo Volturno.
Teams from SYSTRA Italy are preparing to equip half of the Neapolitan railway network with the most advanced signalling and control systems for supervising railway operations. The implementation by 2026 of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), coupled with a Centralised Network Control (ACCM), will offer the operator a more reliable, robust, and flexible operation of its network, while increasing the level of safety of the lines.
Benefits in terms of consumption and environmental footprint are also expected: the electrical substations will be equipped to recover almost all the kinetic energy of trains during braking phases and return it to the network.
In addition, we will participate in the modernisation of the railway infrastructure (stations, tunnels, engineering structures) and communication equipment on the Castellammare-Sorrento section, to increase the operating capacity to one train every 12 minutes. The works will be carried out at night to minimise the impact on users.
