Alstom to recruit 200 welders for its Česká Lípa site in Czech Republic

Alstom, global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, is to hire 200 new welders for its Česká Lípa site. These new hires are within the 7,500 talents to be recruited worldwide in 2022, in order to respond to its growth. Alstom's North Bohemian site has already 1,100 employees on board today and is looking to expand within the next weeks. Alstom is currently looking for either professional welders or adepts for its welding training courses. There has long been a chronic shortage of welders and welding operators in the Czech Republic, therefore Alstom has established its own welding training facility.

“Qualification training for future welders takes place in Alstom’s training facility at Česká Lípa production site. Our modern training facility is equipped with state-of-the-art welding technologies, including AI training solutions such as virtual reality. Alstom embraces diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all candidates,” explains Kamil Nosál, Alstom Česká Lípa Site Managing Director.

Newcomers who complete the 4-week on-site course will be tested by a practical final exam. Upon successful completion of the course, graduates are issued with a welding license and a Basic Course Certificate. This is followed by practical training related to specific Alstom projects, which lasts 2 - 3 weeks depending on the project and the chosen workplace.

Alstom is an important employer in Česká Lípa and also in the whole Liberec region. The production site in Česká Lípa celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2018. It is the second largest facility of its kind in the Czech railway industry and one of the largest rolling stock production sites in the entire Central and Eastern Europe cluster. The site focuses mainly on the production of train structures. Specifically, welding components for commuter trains, regional trains and double-deckers, light rail vehicles, trams and subways. The site includes welding workplaces, a certified testing laboratory, a welding school and a modern paint shop.
