Televic: How our full lifecycle support makes the difference in railway-fleet maintenance

An extended lifespan of your rail vehicles with reduced costs.

Televic: How our full lifecycle support makes the difference in railway-fleet maintenance

That is what we want to achieve with our full lifecycle after-sales support. With a comprehensive range of services to choose from, we are putting our expertise at your disposal throughout the life of your fleet.

Closer to you

As global demand for public transport increases, so does the need for reliable and easy-to-maintain passenger information systems (PIS). Today, over 60,000 rail vehicles are already equipped with our on-board systems, providing train builders and operators worldwide with best-in-class communication, and operating hardware and software.

In recent years, the rail market, technology and passenger expectations have been evolving at breakneck speed. This comes with uncertainties and challenges for many of our customers. “That’s why we’re ramping up our services”, explains Kevin D’hoe, services director at Televic GSP.

Full lifecycle support for your fleet

With a full set of after-sales services we are reinforcing the added value of our passenger information systems. We offer faster and stronger local support for:

- repairs and spare parts management
- obsolescence management
- upgrades
- software maintenance

Kevin: “Ultimately, we want to continue getting closer to our clients. By building upon our current services offer and shifting focus to proactive support, we are elevating PIS maintenance to a higher level.”

“More importantly, we are giving train builders, and train operators in particular, the reassurance that the experts who have designed and built their passenger information systems remain at their service throughout the lifespan of their solutions. Also – or especially – after the warranty period has expired.”

Longer lifetime, lower costs

“The needs of our clients have changed as our PIS evolved to a broader system. To help them get the most out of our solutions, we act as a structural partner”,
Kevin says. “This way, technical issues or obsolescence cases, for instance, can be anticipated, avoiding unexpected costly emergency situations.”

"An example: When contacting us to replace or repair an obsolete control or communication unit after several years in service, it is possible that particular components are no longer available. This means your system would need a redesign, which is time-consuming and expensive.

To avoid such situations, our services team offers obsolescence management. In that case, we keep track of all modules and units in your system, taking into account their lifespan and the availability of their components. When a certain unit is likely to become obsolete, we will proactively advise you to increase your stock of spare parts or consider alternative solutions, so you can secure its lifetime".

Stay up to date, stay competitive

Your railway vehicles are expected to be in service for approximately 30 years. In technology terms, that’s ages. To stay up to speed with software and security standards, and at the same time live up to passengers’ rising expectations, refurbishments and system upgrades are a must.

Kevin: “Usually it is not necessary to renew or replace entire PIS to keep a fleet up to date. You can already go a long way with extra or updated TFT screens, software upgrades or new controllers that are compatible with the newest technologies, so to offer additional functionalities for instance.”

Through our ‘smart lifetime-extension services’ we will assist you in evaluating the costs, risks and profitability of every possible solution. That way you can make clear cost-effective decisions to tackle any challenge – before they potentially become an issue.”
