A new modern suburban railway station Minskaya of the future MCD-4 was opened in Moscow
On April 4, the new Minskaya suburban railway station of the future 4th Moscow Central Diameter (MCD-4) was opened on the Kiev direction of the Moscow Railway. It became the basis of the new hub, where passengers can make interchanges to the eponymous metro station of the Line 8A, and to the surface transport.
Minskaya suburban railway station is located in the western part of the capital at the intersection of 3 districts. Its opening will improve transport accessibility for more than 315 thousand residents of these districts, New Moscow (the remote district to the south of Moscow) and Moscow region. For the residents of New Moscow it will allow to reduce travel time by 50%. Already this year it will be used by more than 8.5 thousand passengers per day and by 2030 – up to 22 thousand people.
«We are working on the MCD-4 launch - this is the most difficult diameter in terms of implementation. I am sure that the new Minskaya hub will become an attraction not only for local residents, but also for passengers coming from the Moscow region. This is the second hub on the future MCD-4 after Aminevskaya station, with a convenient interchange to the metro and the opportunity of saving time on travel. In the future, Minskaya will be a part of the fourth diameter. The MCD-4 will become the longest route in the capital and will improve the standard of living in more than 20 districts of Moscow», – noted Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.
Since the suburban railway station Minskaya opening, there is working one 270-meter platform with a full-length canopy with the convenient navigation and a passenger concourse. From the platform, passengers can go down to the terminal by the elevator or escalators. The concourse is equipped with turnstile lines and cash register area, including a lowered window for passengers with disabilities and a restroom. The interchange between the metro and the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) is made through a crosswalk with a canopy, which protects passengers from snow, rain and sun. The interchange takes less than a minute. At the second stage of work, additional tracks will be laid here, a second passenger platform and a new concourse will be erected, by the end of 2022. The new suburban railway station meets modern standards of the Moscow transport.
The opening of Minskaya is one of the preparation stages for the launch of the most complex and extremely important for the Moscow agglomeration diameter - MCD-4.
The MCD-4 is a unique and highly important line for Moscow and the Moscow Region. The 4th diameter will be the longest one - its length will be 86 km. Another feature of the MCD-4 is the largest number of the interchange stations. There will be 39 stations on the 4th diameter. From 18 of them passengers will have 35 interchange options to the metro, the MCC and other diameters. The daily prospective flow of the MCD-4 may reach 455 thousand people, which is 84% more than the current figure. Inside of the capital, it will be used by up to 30 million people per year, and in total - more than 162 million passengers per year.
