Tesmec Group Supplies Railway Maintenance Vehicles to Slovenian Railways

Railway infrastructure maintenance and electrification equipment
In railway infrastructure management and maintenance operations, specialized vehicles are essential to ensure network reliability, operational safety, and compliance with European standards. Tesmec Group has secured two contracts with SŽ-Infrastruktura d.o.o., the organization responsible for traffic management and maintenance of Slovenia’s public railway network, for the supply of railway maintenance vehicles and related operational services.

The contracts, awarded to Tesmec’s subsidiary Tesmec Rail, have a combined value of €71 million and a duration of 4.5 years. The agreements include the delivery of 21 vehicles designed to support the management, maintenance, and safety of railway infrastructure across Slovenia.

Modular platform supporting European railway markets
The project reflects Tesmec’s strategy of developing railway maintenance solutions based on a modular and scalable platform capable of adapting to different railway networks and operational requirements across Europe.

This approach allows the company to extend technology and operational expertise developed in the Italian railway sector to other European markets. By leveraging a standardized platform architecture, the vehicles can be configured for various infrastructure maintenance applications while maintaining compliance with European railway standards.

The contracts also establish a technological collaboration framework between Tesmec and Slovenian Railways, combining equipment supply with services supporting the operation and deployment of next-generation maintenance vehicles.

Railcars for infrastructure maintenance operations
Under the agreements, Tesmec will supply 15 high-performance railcars designed for railway infrastructure maintenance. These vehicles support activities such as inspection, track maintenance, and infrastructure servicing while ensuring operational efficiency and safety.

The railcars are engineered to comply with European railway regulations and operational requirements, allowing them to be deployed within the Slovenian national railway network for routine and specialized maintenance tasks.

Vehicles for catenary maintenance and electrification systems
The contracts also include six specialized working vehicles for catenary maintenance, supporting the upkeep of overhead line electrification systems used on railway networks.

Among these vehicles is a hybrid maintenance unit equipped with battery technology, designed to reduce emissions and noise during operations. Hybrid propulsion enables the vehicle to operate with lower environmental impact, particularly in sensitive environments or locations where reduced noise levels are beneficial.

Such solutions support the modernization of railway maintenance operations while aligning with European sustainability objectives for rail transport.

Strengthening international railway infrastructure capabilities
The signing ceremony for the contracts took place at Ljubljana Railway Station with representatives from Slovenian infrastructure authorities and Tesmec Group. The agreements highlight the growing collaboration between the organizations in developing infrastructure maintenance solutions for the Slovenian rail network.

By supplying next-generation maintenance vehicles and related operational services, Tesmec strengthens its position in the European railway infrastructure sector while supporting the development and modernization of railway networks.

The project also reflects broader industry trends toward specialized maintenance equipment capable of improving efficiency, safety, and environmental performance in railway infrastructure operations.
