Alstom releases its Sweden impact report, with over 3,000 jobs supported and strong community engagement

Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, is releasing its first impact report in Sweden highlighting a substantial contribution to the Swedish economy and to sustainable transportation. The company has more than 2,000 employees, supports over 3,000 jobs in total, and is one of the country’s leading actors in rail technology. Alstom also plays an important role in the transition to a decarbonised transport system.

This Impact Report for fiscal year 24/25 shows that Alstom creates a significant economic footprint through its supply chains and industrial investments, strengthening local businesses and supporting new jobs across the country. Beyond its industrial presence, the company continues to drive innovation in energy-efficient rail transport, advanced testing and development facilities in Västerås, and new digital solutions that enhance both safety and capacity in the rail system.

Sustainability is integrated throughout the organisation. This includes everything from designing trains with very high recyclability to long-term collaborations focused on materials with lower climate impact. At the same time, Alstom is investing in energy efficiency and technologies that support a more resource-preserving railway in the Nordic region.

The company’s community engagement is also expanding, with initiatives such as mentorship programs for young women, internships for newly arrived academics, and volunteer activities in collaboration with nonprofit organisations. Over the past year, more than 2,800 persons have benefited from Alstom’s social programs, with the strong contribution of employees across the country to those community initiatives and fundraising efforts.

“I am incredibly proud of our employees and the impact we are making in Sweden. We are not only delivering sustainable mobility solutions but also strengthening local ecosystems and driving innovation together with universities, startups, and industry partners,”
says Maria Signal-Martebo, CEO of Alstom in Sweden.
