Shift2Rail Publishes Preliminary Programme for InnoTrans 2018
Shift2Rail has published its preliminary programme for InnoTrans 2018. The European Union Horizon 2020 initiative is showcasing an extensive range of solutions for all aspects of railway systems at the show in Berlin on 18–21 September.
The technologies it has developed that will be on display include the moving block over ETCS for mainline networks, intelligent freight terminals and video gates, obstacle detection devices andhigh-speed tamping processes.
Visitors to the stand will be introduced to some solutions in an interactive zone which allows them to experience using the technology via virtual reality software. The solutions which visitors can test for themselves include noise-mitigation measures, multimodal booking software, braking systems and smart metering.
Shift2Rail is also collaborating with another “prominent demonstrator” at the show who will present the effectiveness of wireless communication software for trams. Vehicles on a track in Spain will be controlled remotely from within the vicinity of it, and the destination displays will be changed by demo managers at the stand in Berlin.
The Shift2Rail team will be at Stand 203, Hall 4.2. on all four days of the show. Violeta Bulc, the EU Commissioner for Mobility and Transport, will visit the stand at 2pm on 18 September
