ÖBB: NEW GENERATION NIGHTJET TAKES OFF TO HAMBURG FOR THE FIRST TIME
The new generation Nightjet is in passenger use for the first time on the Vienna - Hamburg and Innsbruck - Hamburg lines.

Thanks to the excellent cooperation between ERA and the national authorities in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Italy and the vehicle manufacturer Siemens Mobility, approval for the new trains was successfully implemented within the specified deadline.
The new comfort of night train travel
The seven-part Nightjets of the new generation consist of two seated cars (control car & multifunctional car), three couchette cars and two sleeping cars. The maximum total capacity per set is 254 places. The design combines ultra-modern design with even more comfort and space.
Travelling in a sleeping car is even more comfortable because all compartments have their own toilet and shower facilities. Fixed beds also increase sleeping comfort and ensure a relaxed arrival at your destination. They also have comfortable seating for relaxed work, reading or eating while travelling. Due to the lower occupancy (2-person compartment in the sleeping car, 4-person compartment in the optimized couchette car for families and groups), ÖBB can meet customers' requests for increased privacy.
The new, innovative Mini Cabins, the individual sleeping spaces in the couchette car, contain everything you need for an undisturbed night journey in a compact space: a storage area, a sliding folding table for breakfast with an integrated mirror, coat hooks, a reading lamp and directly adjacent lockers for hand luggage and shoes.
For barrier-free travel, every new Nightjet has a modern, barrier-free couchette compartment (for up to two wheelchair users and accompanying persons) as well as a barrier-free toilet, which are easily accessible via a low-floor entrance. The multifunctional trolley offers new and improved transport options: six bicycle parking spaces for all cycling enthusiasts as well as more space for luggage, strollers and sports equipment.
