ADIF INCREASES TRAFFIC CAPACITY ON THE BARCELONA-VALLS-LLEIDA LINE
Adif will install new management, communications and security systems between Valls and Salomó (Tarragona).
Adif allocates an investment of 9.2 million euros to actions that will increase traffic capacity on the Barcelona-Valls-Lleida line, within the framework of the Transformem Rodalies plan.
On the Valls-Salomó (Tarragona) section, new traffic management systems (control, command and signalling), communications and security will be installed to put the Single Track Automatic Blocking (BAU) into service. This security system allows the succession of trains between stations with the implementation of intermediate signals. In addition, energy supply, telecommunications and civil works actions are contemplated.
The new equipment will provide the route with greater capacity in the face of the foreseeable increase in traffic in the short term, derived, among other factors, from the works being carried out in the Mediterranean Corridor, which raise the need to divert circulation along this conventional gauge line. through which Rodalies and freight trains circulate.
Along with the increase in capacity, the parameters of efficiency, availability and effectiveness of railway operation will be optimized.
The implementation of the BAU will be carried out by Alstom Mobility.
