Facilitating freight transport in Cádiz with Thales technology
Thales is participating in the development of freight transport on the railway branch to access the Bajo de la Cabezuela dock in Cádiz.
Thales has been selected by Adif to draft the construction project and execute it on the 4.4-kilometer connection between Las Aletas station in Puerto Real and the Bajo de la Cabezuela dock in Cádiz. This project of great interest will have a positive impact on the development of freight transport, increasing port activities in the Bay of Cádiz.
With a budget of 7.29 million Euros, this contract includes the design, definition, project drafting, and execution of traffic control, signaling, safety, and fixed and mobile telecommunications works, as well as the subsequent commissioning of the branch line that links Las Aletas with the Bajo de la Cabezuela.
Specifically, it entails the installation of new railway safety systems. Additionally, new equipment for the ERTMS N1 train protection system will be installed on the La Cabezuela branch line and the Seville-Santa Justa CTC.
The project begins with infrastructure works on the La Cabezuela branch. Subsequently, the extension of the Las Aletas interlocking will be carried out in a single phase, without affecting commercial rail traffic.
