SYSTRA strengthens its presence in Australia and its expertise in tunnels with the acquisition of Bamser

This acquisition is in line with the Group’s objective to strengthen its expertise in countries offering strong development opportunities, of which Australia is one.

In addition, this new company reinforces SYSTRA’s position as a leading global player in the field of complex tunnels, following the acquisition in 2021 of SWS Engineering, an engineering company specialising in underground structures.

"We are delighted to strengthen our complex engineering solutions offering in Australia through the acquisition of Bamser. Our clients and partners will benefit from an expanded service offering in an area with a large amount of infrastructure to be built. We are very pleased to welcome new talent to meet current and future challenges"

Jean-Charles Vollery, Chief Operating Officer, SYSTRA Group.

A significant presence in Australia

SYSTRA has been present in Australia since 2016. In just a few years, our Australian teams have grown from 60 to 180 employees, including the development of a Consulting branch at the forefront of digital solutions. In 2022, SYSTRA ANZ established a presence in New Zealand.

Our key references in the region include rail and systems engineering, with a systems integration contract for Sydney Trains won in early 2023, the deployment of ERTMS level 2 on the Cross River Rail line in Queensland, interface management for the construction of the Suburban Rail Loop in Melbourne in 2021, and pre-commissioning tests for the NorthConnex Motorway tunnel in 2020. Finally, since 2014, we have been supporting the independent certification of the Sydney Metro.
