SENER is part of the design team for the Ontario Line metro in Toronto
This important project will shorten travel times and put 227,500 more people within walking distance of transit.
SENER is part of the design team for the approximately 7-kilometre southern portion of the Ontario Line metro in Toronto (Canada). SENER has been selected to carry out the design, along with three other companies, by the construction consortium Ontario Transit Group, formed by Ferrovial and Vinci.
The new Ontario Line will be a fast, stand-alone mass transit line that will span a total of 15.6 kilometers from Exhibition/Ontario Place to the Ontario Science Centre. The Southern Civil, Stations and Tunnel contract will require the construction of 6 kilometres of tunnels and seven stations, six of them underground. Once in operation, the Ontario Line will put an estimated 227,500 people within a 10-minute walk of a transit station. The project will also significantly relieve congestion on the existing Line 1 (Yonge-University) metro.
SENER has been very active in the Canadian Rail & Transit Sector, currently working on significant projects in 5 different cities: Finch West LRT, Eglinton Crosstown West Extension and OnCorr projects in Toronto; the Réseau Express Métropolitain in Montreal; the Confederation Line and Trillium Line in Ottawa; and Valley Line West Extension in Edmonton.
