After a four-year break, the railway and transport technology industry met from September 20 to 23, 2022 for the 13th InnoTrans in Berlin, Germany. DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung was also represented at the Deutsche Bahn Group booth with topics including 3D printing, alternative drives and extended service life of electronic components.

IdeasTrain with innovative interior concept
The Suedostbayernbahn IdeasTrain also set off on its journey to the InnoTrans from the DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung maintenance depot Wittenberge. A completely new interior concept was integrated into an existing carriage body. Among other things, seats made of mesh that adapt to the back and corner benches for larger groups were installed. Furthermore, the family area offers more space with a larger table. Throughout the train, many new screens display current news or information about the journey, occupancy and infrastructure at the next stop. In 1st class are electrically adjustable seats as well as a small divider between the seats for a little more privacy. New office cabins offer the possibility to retreat as well as to connect a laptop or tablet to a 27-inch screen.

Partnerships strengthened
DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung has extended its cooperation with RAlpin until 2028 in order to continue to carry out overhauls and mobile maintenance of the low-floor carrier cars. This way, a joint contribution is made to CO2-neutral rail transport.

The partnership with MRCE was also expanded through the signing of a memorandum of understanding. The aim is to work together more closely in the area of workshop networks along the main European corridors and to expand the component and revision business.

Furthermore, a partnership with Siemens Mobility was formed in order to bring further Vectron locomotives onto the market in the future. At the Dessau maintenance depot, up to 234 class 193 locomotives will be commissioned and put on the rails between 2022 and 2024.

"InnoTrans 2022 was a great success for DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung. We had many conversations, strengthened partnerships and exchanged ideas with customers and suppliers," summarises Nicole Friedrich, Chairwoman of the Management Board.
