CAF Signalling starts up a new Remote Control System at the Bilbao CTC

CAF Signalling, a technological subsidiary of the CAF Group specialising in Railway Signalling Systems, has commissioned a new ADIF Remote Controller for Circulation, the Bilbao CTC of the Metric Width Network.

CAF Signalling starts up a new Remote Control System at the Bilbao CTC
  • The new system uses CAF Signalling's NAOS technology under ADIF's new Traffic Control Centre architecture
  • This is the fourth CTC to be renovated in ADIF's North and Northwest Sub- directorates

This work is part of the CTC renovation projects that ADIF and CAF Signalling are developing in the Infrastructure Administrator's North and Northwest Sub-directorates.

This is the fourth Centralised Traffic Control System that both entities have jointly implemented in less than two years, after those of León, Oviedo and Santander, and which uses CAF Signalling's NAOS technology under ADIF's new Telemandos architecture. This combination provides the highest flexibility and availability for the operation of these systems, which meets the standards required by ADIF.

The renovation of this type of system is particularly complex due to the technological leap involved, as well as the need to integrate and maintain old field equipment at the same time, which involves highly complex reverse engineering tasks.

With this commissioning, CAF Signalling remains at the forefront of Rail Traffic management, especially in the field of ADIF standards, whose commitment to in-house technology in railway signalling is giving great results in projects already in service.

"This commissioning is a new milestone in the joint collaboration with ADIF, especially due to the complexity involved. It is also another example of the excellent collaboration between both entities, a symbiosis that is bringing great advances in terms of signalling to the Spanish railway network", highlights Raúl Costa, Commercial & Bids Director at CAF Signalling.
