Colas Rail wins its first urban track contract in Canada!
In August 2020, Colas Rail, the Colas Group subsidiary specialized in Railways, signed a contract with Mosaic Transit Group for the track construction of the Metrolinx Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in Toronto, Canada.
With 18 stops across an 11-kilometer corridor, the Finch West LRT will connect local communities to other transit providers in the Greater Toronto Area including GO Transit, Miway, YRT and Züm.
The contract awarded to Colas Rail by Mosaic Transit Group is Colas Rail’s first major urban railway project in Canada, following the Brampton depot electrification contract in the City of Toronto in 2019.
Colas Rail will construct 11 km of concrete double track along Finch Avenue West and an additional 3.2 km of single track in the maintenance and storage facility site. Track construction work is expected to start in September 2020, with completion slated for June 2022.
This contract is part of the $2.5 billion Canadian dollars public-private partnership (P3) contract signed in 2018 by Mosaic Transit Group with Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx to design, build, finance and maintain the Finch West LRT line.
