INSTALLATION COMPLETED IN CONEGLIANO - VITTORIO VENETO
With the completion of the installation, GCF finished a few days ago, the last phase of the electrification works of the regional single-track Conegliano - Vittorio Veneto line. An additional step of RFI “Veneto Basin” project that, pursuant to Framework Agreement 224, foresees the complete electrification of the so called “Belluno lines’ low ring”.
Three railway sections that cover the territories of Padua, Vicenza, Treviso and Belluno and are part of the electrification and environmental sustainability program aimed at eliminating current diesel locomotives, maximizing the environmental advantages of zero-emission railway transport: Bassano del Grappa - Cittadella - Camposampiero, la Castelfranco Veneto - Montebelluna, all completed and Conegliano Veneto - Belluno that will be delivered in October.
Overall, 90 km of single-track railway along which over 2,000 foundation blocks have been cast, to lay as many piles or columns in galvanized steel featuring brackets – mostly of Omnia type- to secure the 2 x 100 square mm double-wire contact line in copper supported by 2 x 120 square mm bearing cord in copper.
The electrification works of the stations involved by the project – about ten the main ones- are also important not only in terms of installation and equipping of piles and columns with MEC beams, but also for the execution of new TE transformation cabins (in Cittadella, Conegliano, Camposampiero) and S.S.E. electric sub-stations (in Bassano del Grappa, Nove-Vittorio Veneto, Ponte nelle Alpi) to supply the contact line.
“Now, after completing the installation of Conegliano-Vittorio Veneto segment - states engineer Michele Granzotto - the works will continue up to Belluno, along a mountain section characterized by the presence of historical viaducts and, above all, numerous tunnels that have been equipped for about 7 km and a half, with 280 hanging wires secured using stainless steel clips”.
Two of them, S. Croce and Fadalto (the longest, 2,152 m long) will be equipped with Stes (tunnel safety system); the other two – Burigo and Vigneta, long about 500 metres- will feature a rigid catenary certified by GCF, essential to fully exploit the narrow spaces of historic constructions.
Two segments currently being worked on, for Conegliano - Belluno section. The first, consisting of 26 km of track that go from Vittorio Veneto to the valley, crossing 22 tunnels and the residential towns of Nove, S. Croce del Lago, Alpago and Cadola stations until Ponte nelle Alpi;
”The installation of the poles in the two segments – explains the site manager Gabriele Cavatorta – was completed and now the equipment is being provided, featuring Omnia brackets while GCF’s special train is proceeding at the speed of 1-2 km of day, installing the contact line with overall section of 440 square mm".
The works, completed so far by 80%, will be finished by September-October.
