MARTAconfirms award for 127 METRO trains to Stadler–contract signed
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) and Stadler have signed the contract for the delivery of 127 METRO trains with two options for 25 additional trains each. MARTA had awarded the contract to Stadler in spring of this yearaccording to the media release from 29 March 2019. As already announced, the contract is worth over 600 million US dollars. The new trains are scheduled for service at the world's largest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
MARTA and Stadler have signed the legally binding contract for 127 METRO trains in Atlanta. The contract contains two options for 25 additional trains each. Following the award decision in March 2019, the contract could now be signed. The contract volume is over 600 millionUS dollars. For Stadler, this is the largest single order for vehicles in the company's history. It is also the first major METRO order in the USA.According to the contract, the first vehicles will be in passenger service from 2023.
