VinSpeed, Siemens Partner on High-Speed Rail Development in Vietnam

Strategic Partnership for Vietnam’s High-Speed Rail Program
VinSpeed High-Speed Railway Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, a member of Vingroup, has signed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Framework Agreement with Siemens Mobility to support the development of high-speed rail in Vietnam. Under the agreement, Siemens Mobility will act as technology partner, contributing to the design, supply, and integration of rolling stock and key railway systems.

The cooperation establishes a framework for future implementation contracts and supports the development of rail infrastructure aligned with international standards.

Turnkey Scope Covering Trains and Core Rail Systems
As part of the partnership, Siemens Mobility will design and deliver Velaro Novo high-speed trains and integrate essential railway subsystems. These include ETCS Level 2 signaling with automatic train operation (ATO), telecommunications, and electrification systems. Siemens Mobility is also exploring opportunities to provide advanced maintenance services aimed at ensuring high system availability over the lifecycle of the network.

Both companies emphasized close technical and operational collaboration to support the rollout of Vietnam’s high-speed rail program.

Initial High-Speed Routes
VinSpeed and Siemens Mobility are jointly developing multiple high-speed rail lines across Vietnam. Two routes have been identified as part of the program: the Ha Noi–Quang Ninh (Ha Long) line, spanning 121 kilometers with four stations, and the Ben Thanh–Can Gio line, covering 54 kilometers with two stations.

All lines will be equipped with modern rail technologies, including ETCS Level 2 signaling, electrification, and communications systems, to support safe, efficient, and sustainable operations.

Velaro Novo High-Speed Train Platform
Velaro Novo is Siemens Mobility’s latest high-speed train platform, designed for operating speeds of up to 350 km/h. The platform offers increased passenger capacity through a wider carbody and optimized design, while reducing energy consumption compared with earlier generations.

Engineered to operate in challenging environments, Velaro Novo is designed to handle steep gradients and varied terrain. Integrated ETCS Level 2 signaling and automatic train operation support enhanced safety, optimized energy use, and high operational availability for high-speed rail networks.
