Knorr-Bremse has been awarded a major supply contract by Siemens Mobility. Starting in Q4 2023 and extending to Q1 2026, Knorr-Bremse will be equipping 15 high-speed Velaro Egypt electric multiple units (EMUs) with braking systems and entrance systems.
The growth of urban centers and rising mobility needs are placing rail transportation at the heart of the mobility of the future. With the evolution of its braking technologies, Knorr-Bremse is contributing to even more available and punctual rail transit: Reproducible Braking Distance (RBD) – achieved through the smart interaction of multiple brake components – will enable operators to increase the frequency of train services and transport more people in metropolitan areas.
Working together with operator Havelländische Eisenbahn (HVLE), Knorr-Bremse is equipping a freight train with an automation system that will support automated brake testing. At the same time, Knorr-Bremse is producing the first prototypes of its own DAC. Both innovations are being systematically prepared for market launch as part of a package of rail freight solutions.
Kiepe Electric and consortium partner Alstom have received an order from Swedish tram operator Göteborgs Spårvägar and county transit agency Västtrafik to supply an additional 40 longer trams. Kiepe Electric is a brand of Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking systems and other systems for rail and commercial vehicles.
Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking systems and a leading supplier of other rail and commercial vehicle systems, has again been ranked in the top five percent of all companies assessed and rated for sustainability by EcoVadis. Once again, Knorr-Bremse was awarded Gold status for this year’s sustainability performance.
Once again, Knorr-Bremse is supplying systems for ICE trains. Following Deutsche Bahn’s decision to exercise an option to order another 43 ICE 3neo (Velaro MS) trainsets from Siemens Mobility, Knorr-Bremse will supply braking and entrance systems for the vehicles between 2024 and 2027.
The companies have concluded a comprehensive cooperation agreement, enabling Knorr-Bremse to make full use of Nexxiot’s sensor technology and data ecosystem.
A World Première: an innovative mobility solution consisting of 24-metre bi-articulated electric buses powered by fast-charging high-power batteries and recharged by a conductive ground-based static charging system (SRS).
Knorr-Bremse has further strengthened an existing partnership with Alstom that aims to deliver safe, sustainable and efficient rail transportation. Under a recently signed framework contract, Knorr-Bremse will enjoy a conditional exclusivity until at least 2025 for trains sourced from the high-performance, versatile Coradia Stream train family.
Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking systems and other rail and commercial vehicle systems, has expanded its Berlin plant by adding nine large machining centers for the manufacture of brake discs for train braking systems.
