Knorr-Bremse expands its stake in Rail Vision: Capital increase in start-up for obstacle detection and classification 

 Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking and other systems for rail and commercial vehicles, has subscribed a capital increase in the Israeli company Rail Vision. Knorr-Bremse has acquired an additional 19.8% of the shares for USD 10 million. As a result, Knorr- Bremse now holds a 36.8% stake in the start-up, which specializes in sensor technology and obstacle detection based on artificial intelligence and deep learning.

DIGITALIZATION: KNORR-BREMSE AND RAIL VISION TO TEST OBSTACLE DETECTION SYSTEMS ON SWISS OPERATOR SBB CARGO’S LOCOMOTIVES

Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking and other systems for rail and commercial vehicles, and Israeli startup Rail Vision will equip multiple SBB Cargo shunting locomotives with Rail Vision’s Assisted Remote Shunting system for obstacle detection. After prototype testing is successfully completed at the end of the first quarter of 2021, the partners will be looking into addressing additional business activities to adopt obstacle detection systems for cargo vehicles.

LONGER SERVICE LIVES: KNORR-BREMSE AND VR FLEETCARE SIGN SERVICE AGREEMENT TO MAINTAIN BRAKING SYSTEMS OF 46 LOCOMOTIVES

Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking and other systems for rail and commercial vehicles, and Finnish railroad vehicle maintenance company VR FleetCare, a subsidiary of VR Group, have signed a service agreement in the single-digit million-euro range for a fleet of 46 Sr2-type locomotives.

HIGH-SPEED MOBILITY: KNORR-BREMSE SUPPORTS RZD TO DEVELOP NEXT-GENERATION VERY HIGH-SPEED TRAINS FOR RUSSIA

Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking and other systems for rail and commercial vehicles, is to join with Russian national rail operator RZD and the Russian Engineering Center for Railway Transport (ECRT) to develop the next generation of very high-speed trains for Russia. The trains will link the country’s largest cities at speeds greater than 300 km/h. In the first project phase, Knorr-Bremse will be contributing its holistic systems expertise to help assess the design requirements.
