CLAYTON EQUIPMENT DEVELOPS A SOLUTION TO PROVIDE AN INTELLIGENT LOCOMOTIVE TRACKING AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Clayton Equipment has developed a solution to provide an intelligent locomotive tracking and management system to improve locomotives used within a mining environment.

Mine Sim™ uses RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags with distance to calculate a position within the mine simulation. At different points the gradient of the track changes, which is simulated using a dynamometer to apply a load.

Different sections (between tags) have a different speed requirement, as a tag is passed the speed demand is changed and this change is shown on the graph.

The simulator also shows the power consumption and whether the loco is regening (going downhill) or discharging.

Clayton Equipment continues to introduce improved systems and processes for data sharing both with mine operators and freight customers to provide a cohesive approach to locomotive maintenance, identify faults, plan repairs in advance and avoid unnecessary disruption.
